BMW has announced the recall of over 330,000 vehicles worldwide due to safety concerns and the potential risk of fire, marking the second major recall for the German brand in less than a month.
The German Transport Authority Reveals Details
The Federal Motor Transport Authority of Germany stated that approximately 337,000 vehicles may be affected by the issue, including about 29,000 vehicles within Germany.
The authority noted that the defect is related to improper installation of dashboard wiring, which could lead to a fire risk in some cases.
Models Included in the Recall
The recall includes five models from the company, which are:
BMW i5
BMW 5 Series
BMW M5
BMW i7
BMW 7 Series
These vehicles were manufactured between June 2022 and December 2025.
No Recorded Incidents So Far
The authority confirmed that no incidents related to the technical issue have been recorded so far, but emphasized that the recall is a precautionary measure to ensure user safety.
A spokesperson for BMW confirmed the recall figures within Germany to the French Press Agency, but could not confirm the total global number published by the authority.
Recent Recalls
Earlier this month, BMW announced the recall of hundreds of thousands of vehicles worldwide due to a potential spark risk in the engine starter that could lead to a fire.
The company had also recalled about 1.5 million vehicles in late 2024 due to a defect in the braking system, which prompted it to lower its performance expectations for that year.
