The foreign ministers of Iraq and France confirm their support for the unity and stability of Syria.

Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein and his French counterpart Jean-Yves Le Drian emphasized the importance of supporting the unity and sovereignty of Syria and enhancing stability through a comprehensive political process during a joint press conference in Baghdad.
Hussein stated: "We discussed with the French side the situation in Syria and ways to enhance its stability, ensuring the building of a comprehensive political path involving all components of Syrian society," noting that Syria's stability is a decisive factor for the security of Iraq and Europe.
The Iraqi minister also mentioned that the discussions also covered "enhancing cooperation in counterterrorism and confronting the threat of ISIS through the mechanism of the international coalition."
On his part, the French minister highlighted a "significant convergence" in positions between his country and Iraq regarding the Syrian crisis, stressing the necessity for "the transitional phase in Syria to be comprehensive and lead to a political transformation that makes it a cornerstone for peace in the region."
Le Drian emphasized "respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria, and the cessation of all hostile acts," stating: "Syria's unity must be preserved, and its disintegration must not be allowed during this critical phase."
