French Prosecutor Summons Elon Musk for Investigation into Potential Violations on Platform X

Search of the platform's offices in France
French Attorney General Laure Picot confirmed that authorities have begun searching the offices of the "X" platform in France, coinciding with the expansion of investigations linked to the platform's activities and operations in recent times.
Summoning Executives and Employees
Picot clarified that the summons also includes Linda Yaccarino, the former CEO of the platform, as they are the executive and legal authorities managing "X" during the period of the alleged violations.
Additionally, several platform employees have been summoned for questioning during the period from April 20 to April 24, 2026.
Allegations Related to Algorithms and Published Content
The investigations date back to early 2025 after French deputies filed complaints regarding the potential bias of the platform's algorithms and their impact on the circulated content and platform performance.
The investigations later expanded to include more serious suspicions, including complicity in the possession or distribution of pornographic materials involving minors, as well as issues related to sexually explicit deepfake technologies, in addition to publishing content that denies the Holocaust.
Voluntary Questioning to Clarify Management's Position
The French prosecution indicated that the questioning sessions will be conducted voluntarily, aiming to give platform officials the opportunity to present their perspective on the allegations and clarify the measures the company may take to comply with applicable laws and regulatory standards.
