Spanish goalkeeper Antonio Adán, former Real Madrid player and current goalkeeper for Iran's Esteghlal Tehran, managed to leave Iran and reach Spain before the airspace was closed due to American-Israeli attacks on Iran, confirming that he will not return at this time.
Adán stated in an interview with the "Tablero Deportivo" program on Radio Nacional de España that the sudden security situation while leaving the country forced him to make a quick decision, noting that the flight was among the last available before the closure.
In contrast, his teammates Munir El Haddadi and Ivan Sanchez were unable to leave by air and are currently seeking a way to return by land, after many air routes in the region were closed.
Adán explained that the club granted the team two days off after their league match, which they won 2-1 on Friday, allowing him the opportunity to return to his family in Madrid, but he acknowledged that returning to Iran under the current circumstances and the communication blackout with the club is not possible.
These developments come amid rising military tensions in the region following the start of American-Israeli strikes on Iran, and Tehran's response by launching missiles at Israel and other countries in the Middle East.
