The province of Sweida witnessed a prisoner exchange today between the National Guard and government forces, according to local media reports.
The arrival of the detainees at the exchange points
The "Syrian News" channel reported that internal security forces, in cooperation with military police, "secured the arrival of 61 detainees from the people of Sweida to the Matouna checkpoint in the northern countryside of the province, in preparation for the prisoner exchange process".
The "Sweida Press" news page confirmed that the release process included 61 of the "civilian hostages" who had been held in prisons in Damascus, in exchange for prisoners from government forces.
Details of the exchange process
Sources clarified that the exchange will take place at the Matouna - Umm Zaytoun crossing in northern Sweida, under the supervision of the Red Cross, in the coming hours, to ensure it proceeds safely and in an organized manner.
