NATO Prepares to Announce Important News on Arming Ukraine on Wednesday

The U.S. Ambassador to NATO, Matthew Whitaker, announced that the alliance countries will issue an important announcement on Wednesday, October 15, regarding the allocation of new resources for purchasing weapons for Ukraine.
Whitaker stated in a press statement on Tuesday evening that the purchase of American weapons will be financed by European partners through the PURL program, emphasizing that the program "is operating smoothly and effectively" so far.
A New Step in Supporting Kyiv
The American representative clarified that European allies will continue in the upcoming phase to purchase weapons and defensive equipment for Ukraine, noting that the anticipated announcement tomorrow will carry "great significance" in this direction.
He added that this step comes as part of NATO's efforts to enhance Ukraine's military capabilities, contributing to "creating conditions for reaching a future peace deal," as he put it.
Background of the U.S.-European Agreement
It is worth mentioning that the United States reached a new mechanism last August with the European NATO member countries, allowing for the financing of the supply of American weapons to Ukraine from European budgets, in an attempt to accelerate the pace of military support for Kyiv.
