The Egyptian Interior Ministry Denies Claims of 'Suicide Messages' Inside Prisons and Confirms: No Strikes or Suicide Attempts

The Egyptian Interior Ministry denied, on Wednesday evening, the reports circulated by a media outlet affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood regarding the existence of messages attributed to prisoners claiming they are on hunger strike and attempting suicide inside rehabilitation centers.
An security source confirmed, in a statement published on the official Facebook page of the Interior Ministry, that these allegations are completely false, explaining that what has been promoted falls within the framework of 'a series of lies and rumors that the terrorist group has been spreading,' aimed at stirring public opinion and distorting the facts.
The source clarified that there are no cases of hunger strikes or suicide attempts in rehabilitation centers, pointing out that the procedures for transferring inmates are carried out according to the regulations governing the community protection sector, which require presenting the inmate to the relevant investigative authorities and returning them to their original center after the legal procedures are completed.
The source added that the ministry continues to implement the modern punitive policy based on rehabilitation and comprehensive care for inmates, in the context of respecting human rights, without any violations.
