Social media platforms have circulated a recording showing shocking scenes inside a private clinic in Tripoli, including the corpses of newborns stored in refrigerators and severed human limbs inside black bags, in conditions described by specialists as violating health and humanitarian standards.
Clinic's Response: Illegal Filming
The Tulip Clinic issued a statement denying the circulated claims, asserting that the scenes were filmed illegally and violate the sanctity of the deceased. The clinic clarified that the visible body belongs to a newborn who died during childbirth, and that the family refused to receive it, necessitating the legal procedures for temporarily preserving the body.
The clinic's management also confirmed that the severed parts were handled according to medical laws, and that filming and leaking these scenes constitutes a legal crime, and that they will take legal action against those involved.
Food and Drug Monitoring Report
For its part, the Food and Drug Monitoring Center announced the detection of serious health and humanitarian violations inside the clinic, including the presence of infant corpses and human limbs stored randomly without identification data, with suspicion of attempts to conceal or destroy them.
The center indicated that the incident was officially documented in the presence of the public order prosecutor, and it has been referred to the relevant authorities to complete the legal investigations.
Closure of the Clinic and Transfer of Patients
The Municipal Guard announced the complete closure of the Tulip Clinic in coordination with the public prosecutor's office, and the transfer of all patients to other hospitals and clinics for their safety until the investigations are concluded.
In a related context, a document issued by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health last month revealed an official correspondence demanding the closure of the clinic due to health and administrative violations, reinforcing the hypothesis of previous violations for which no action was taken.
Calls for a Transparent Investigation
The case is still under investigation, amid popular and human rights demands for an independent investigation, accountability for anyone proven to be involved, and ensuring that such violations that affect human dignity and the safety of the health sector in the country do not recur.
