On Saturday, a tragic incident occurred in Diwaniya province, Iraq, where a woman killed her son by hanging him with a clothesline inside their home, according to local media and a security source for Dijla News.

Reasons for the Incident

The security source explained that the crime resulted from family disputes between the mother and her son, noting that security forces arrested the mother immediately after committing the act, and investigations began to uncover the details of the crime and the motives behind it.

A Similar Record of Family Crimes

This incident is part of a series of recurring family crimes in Iraq, where Diwaniya province witnessed a similar incident last November, when a young man under the influence of drugs killed four family members before being killed by his brother.

Absence of Official Figures

Despite the frequency of such incidents, there are no accurate official statistics on the number of family murders in Iraq annually, but monitoring daily newspapers and social media reveals the recurrence of tragic incidents in various provinces repeatedly.
