On the fifth day of the ceasefire agreement between Hamas and the Israeli army, the Gaza Strip witnessed a dangerous field escalation, resulting in the deaths and injuries of several martyrs in various areas of the strip, threatening the collapse of the fragile truce announced in Sharm El-Sheikh last Friday.

* Bombing in Khan Younis and East Gaza

Medical and local sources reported that a young man from Palestine was martyred this morning, Tuesday, due to wounds he sustained from a previous Israeli bombing that targeted the town of Abasan Al-Kabira east of Khan Younis in the southern strip.

In a simultaneous development, Israeli drones bombed the town of Al-Fukhari east of Khan Younis, resulting in the martyrdom of another Palestinian and injuries to others.

Local reporters also reported heavy gunfire from Israeli vehicles in the Al-Shakush area northwest of Rafah, coinciding with low-flying drones in the same area.

* Massacre in Al-Shuja'iyya neighborhood

In the Al-Shuja'iyya neighborhood east of Gaza City, five Palestinians were martyred as a result of an Israeli bombing targeting displaced individuals who were trying to check on their homes after the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the area.

The occupation army claimed that the deceased were "saboteurs" who attempted to approach its forces, a claim denied by Palestinian sources, confirming they were civilians from the neighborhood.

* The occupation demolishes homes in the center of Khan Younis

In what was considered an unjustified escalation, the occupation forces detonated several residential homes in the center of Khan Younis.

The toll of casualties is still unknown, amid a state of panic and fear among the residents.

* Hospitals in distress .. Risk of halting health services

From inside Gaza, Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in the center of the strip issued an urgent distress call, asking the international community to provide blood units and fuel for generators, amid power outages and a severe shortage of medical supplies.

The Ministry of Health warned of a complete halt of health facilities within hours if aid does not arrive.

It pointed out that more than 600,000 children in the strip are facing the risk of death due to severe malnutrition, as a result of the ongoing blockade and lack of essential supplies.

* War toll so far

According to the latest statement from the Ministry of Health in Gaza, the number of casualties from the Israeli aggression since the attack on October 7, 2023 has risen to:

67,869 martyrs

170,105 injured.

Thousands of victims are still under the rubble, amid the inability of rescue and ambulance crews to reach them due to the ongoing military operations.

* Hamas accuses Israel of violating the truce

For its part, Hamas condemned the Israeli escalation, considering what happened a "clear violation of the ceasefire agreement".

Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem stated that the continuation of bombing and gunfire "confirms the occupation's non-compliance with what was agreed upon", calling on international mediators for immediate intervention to stop the aggression.

* Sharm El-Sheikh Agreement .. Is it collapsing?

These developments came days after the peace summit in Sharm El-Sheikh attended by about 30 international leaders, including Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and U.S. President Donald Trump, who announced on October 8 the achievement of the first phase of a 20-point American plan to end the war, which includes:

• Comprehensive ceasefire.

• Withdrawal of Israeli forces from populated areas.

• Prisoner exchange: Israel released hundreds of Palestinian prisoners, while Hamas handed over 20 live Israeli detainees and 4 corpses.

* Summary of the scene

Despite the signing of the ceasefire agreement, the land of Gaza continues to witness bloodshed and destruction, while the residents suffer from a suffocating humanitarian crisis, and the world faces a real test in enforcing respect for international agreements and ensuring that the hopes for peace are not thwarted again.

With the recent field developments; a serious question arises:

Will the agreement collapse under the weight of escalation?
