Damascus Monitors the Situation of Syrians in Egypt After Reports of Entry Restrictions from Four Countries

Al-Ahmad explained, in a post on the "X" platform, that Syrian authorities have held intensive meetings with the Egyptian side since the beginning of the year to coordinate efforts and address the challenges facing Syrians living there.
Instructions for the Syrian Embassy in Cairo
The Syrian official indicated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has instructed the Syrian embassy in Cairo to provide the highest levels of consular and legal support to the Syrian community, noting that technical proposals have been submitted to the Egyptian authorities aimed at facilitating residency procedures and organizing the status of Syrians within the country.
He emphasized that protecting the rights of Syrians abroad will remain a priority in Syrian diplomatic work.
Circulation of a Circular Regarding Entry Restrictions for Syrians
Meanwhile, social media platforms and travel agency pages circulated a circular indicating that a decision has been issued to prohibit the entry of Syrians into Egypt if they come from four countries: Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, and Jordan, until further notice.
Deadline for Entry According to the Circulated Circular
The circulated circular indicated that February 6, 2026, was the last permitted date for the entry of Syrians coming from the mentioned countries, which raised widespread questions among members of the Syrian community and travelers regarding the nature and duration of the new procedures.
