The Syrian Ministry of Justice announced today, Saturday, the release of a recording documenting the reenactment of the murder of artist Huda Sha'arawi, who was known for her role as “Um Zaki” in the series “Bab Al-Hara,” as part of the ongoing judicial investigations.
The ministry confirmed that the case is under follow-up until justice is achieved, explaining that the reenactment of the crime is part of the procedures to fully uncover the circumstances of the incident. The recording shows the domestic worker, who is of Ugandan nationality, explaining the details of the assault using a hard object inside the artist's home.
According to what was mentioned in the clip, the worker stated that she felt tired and ill on the day of the incident, and mentioned that the victim asked her not to approach the refrigerator, claiming it was “poisoned,” before breaking down in tears and apologizing.
The artistic community was shocked on January 29 when news broke of Sha'arawi's murder inside her home due to an injury that led to severe bleeding.
Authorities were able to arrest the worker that same evening after she left the scene of the incident.
