Sudan's Prime Minister Reveals Peace Plan to Protect Civilians and End Conflict

In a move he described as the optimal solution to end the ongoing war in Sudan since April 2023, Sudanese Prime Minister Kamal Idris announced a new Sudanese peace initiative aimed at protecting civilians, enhancing the rule of law, and finding radical solutions for the future.
In his statements, Idris said that this initiative complements previous efforts, including the Saudi-American initiative, and addresses a number of important axes that will contribute to a comprehensive cessation of war.
Idris explained that the initiative includes:
1 _ Protecting civilians: by ensuring their safety under the current conditions.
2 _ Establishing the rule of law: by reorganizing security and administrative situations.
3 _ Ceasefire: reaching a halt to hostilities in affected areas.
4 _ Displacing militias: as these militias have turned into mercenary groups, the initiative excludes any direct dialogue with them, planning to relocate them to special camps.
5 _ Integrating some militias: into Sudanese society as part of the stabilization process, which will require careful scrutiny.
The war in Sudan, which erupted between the army and rapid support forces, has resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands of people and forced more than 11 million to flee, contributing to the largest humanitarian crisis currently facing the world, according to the United Nations.
The country is facing a severe food crisis, with more than 21 million people, or half of Sudan's population, suffering from high levels of food insecurity.
This initiative comes at a critical time, as the Sudanese people and the international community demand an urgent solution to restore peace to a country living in the heart of a devastating humanitarian crisis.
