Zelensky: Cooperation with Middle Eastern Countries to Counter Iranian Drones and Enhance the Energy Sector

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced today, Saturday, that his country has begun sharing defense systems developed to counter Iranian drones with several Middle Eastern countries, as part of expanding military and technical cooperation, according to Reuters.

Zelensky explained that Ukraine is working to transfer its expertise in countering drones, especially those of the Shahed type, which Russia has used during the war, noting that the developed system has proven effective in mitigating the impact of these attacks.

He added that ongoing discussions with countries in the Middle East primarily focus on defense cooperation, including the exchange of expertise and technologies, in light of the common security challenges facing the region.

In another aspect, the Ukrainian president indicated that the talks also include the energy sector, reflecting Kyiv's efforts to enhance its economic partnerships alongside military cooperation, especially amid the changes in the global energy market.
