Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced today, Saturday, that his country has begun sharing defense systems developed to counter Iranian drones with several Middle Eastern countries, as part of expanding military and technical cooperation, according to Reuters.

Ukrainian System to Counter "Shahed" Drones

Zelensky explained that Ukraine is working to transfer its expertise in countering drones, especially those of the Shahed type, which Russia has used during the war, noting that the developed system has proven effective in mitigating the impact of these attacks.

Growing Defense Cooperation with the Middle East

He added that ongoing discussions with countries in the Middle East primarily focus on defense cooperation, including the exchange of expertise and technologies, in light of the common security challenges facing the region.

Energy as a Priority in the Partnership

In another aspect, the Ukrainian president indicated that the talks also include the energy sector, reflecting Kyiv's efforts to enhance its economic partnerships alongside military cooperation, especially amid the changes in the global energy market.

Towards Multidimensional Partnerships

These moves come as part of Ukraine's efforts to expand its international relations and build partnerships that extend across multiple fields, from defense to economy, thereby strengthening its position amid current geopolitical challenges.
