The United Nations and Arab and Islamic countries condemned on Tuesday the Israeli attack that targeted Hamas leaders in the Qatari capital, Doha, considering it a blatant violation of the state's sovereignty and a serious threat to regional security.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed his condemnation of the Israeli "blatant" violation of Qatar's sovereignty, praising at the same time the positive role that Doha plays in mediation efforts to release detainees and achieve a ceasefire. Guterres urged all parties to "work towards achieving a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip rather than its destruction."

For his part, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas condemned what he described as the Israeli "brutal" attack on Qatar, considering it "a flagrant violation of international law, and an escalation that threatens regional security and stability," according to the official news agency (Wafa).

International reactions came quickly and decisively, as Egypt announced its strong condemnation of the aggressive act, affirming that it "is a direct assault on Qatar's sovereignty" and constitutes a "serious precedent" that undermines the mediation efforts led by Doha. Cairo called on the international community to "assume its legal and moral responsibilities" regarding this violation.

Jordan's King Abdullah II expressed his condemnation of the "cowardly Israeli aggression" in a call with the Emir of Qatar, affirming that "Qatar's security is part of Jordan's security," and calling for mobilizing international support to stop these violations.

The United Arab Emirates also announced its full solidarity with Qatar, as the diplomatic advisor to President Anwar Gargash wrote on the "X" platform: "The security of the Gulf Arab states is indivisible, and we stand wholeheartedly with our sister state of Qatar." Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed emphasized "full solidarity with dear Qatar."

On the other hand, Turkey condemned the attack, considering it evidence that Israel "does not aim to achieve peace, but to continue the war," accusing it of "adopting terrorism as an official policy."

Iran also joined the wave of condemnations, describing the operation as "a very serious criminal act that constitutes a blatant violation of all international rules and regulations," according to the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson.

It is noteworthy that the attack targeting the Katara neighborhood in Doha, according to media sources, occurred while a Hamas delegation was discussing a proposal for a ceasefire, prompting the Islamic Jihad movement to describe it as "a criminal act par excellence."
