Axios: The White House expresses "shock" and "anger" following the Israeli attack in Doha

Reports revealed that the Israeli attack targeting Hamas leaders in the Qatari capital, Doha, on Tuesday, caused a state of "shock" and "anger" within the halls of the White House, due to its timing and the coordination mechanism surrounding it.
According to what Axios reported from informed sources, the discontent of American officials arose because the Israeli strike "came while the United States was waiting for the movement's response to a new proposal presented by the American president for peace in Gaza", as "the White House expected to receive the response to the new peace proposal for Gaza by the end of the week".
The site reported that the anger of senior advisors to President Donald Trump intensified due to the delay in official notification from the Israeli side, noting that "American officials are particularly upset because their notification came very late, leaving them no opportunity to express their opinion on Israel's plans".
The site also quoted a source that Ron Dermer, senior advisor to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, was aware of the attack but did not mention anything during his meeting with White House envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, in Miami on Monday.
For his part, President Trump commented on the incident, confirming that the American military was the one who informed him of the attack. Trump said: "The decision was made by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and the unilateral bombing inside Qatar does not achieve the goals of Israel or America".
He added that he immediately directed special envoy Steve Witkoff to inform the Qataris of the imminent attack, "which he did, but unfortunately, it was too late". At the same time, he considered that the attack "could be an opportunity for peace", assuring the Emir of Qatar and his Prime Minister that "such a thing will not happen again".
Trump wrote on social media: "The individual bombing of Qatar, a sovereign state and a close ally of the United States that works hard and courageously risks with us to mediate peace, does not serve the goals of Israel or America". He continued: "However, eliminating Hamas, which has benefited from the suffering of the people of Gaza, is a noble goal".
This presidential stance was consistent with a previous official statement from White House spokeswoman, Caroline Levitt, who confirmed that "Trump did not endorse Israel's decision to carry out strikes against Hamas in Qatari territory". Levitt mentioned that "the president sees Qatar as a strong ally and a friendly country to the United States, and feels a great discomfort with the location where this attack took place", clarifying that while eliminating Hamas is a "valuable goal", carrying out a strike in Doha "does not serve the goals of either Israel or America".
This American response comes as the Israeli army announced that it had carried out airstrikes targeting senior Hamas leaders in Doha, which the Qatari authorities condemned and described as an attack on residential buildings housing officials from the movement.
