Social media in Egypt witnessed an outpouring of anger after a shocking video surfaced showing a citizen tying a dog with metal chains in front of his house, then hanging it in a brutal manner, disregarding the pleas of neighbors and passersby who tried to stop him from committing his act, threatening to report him to the Ministry of Interior.
The incident took place in Idku city in Beheira Governorate, sparking widespread condemnation from animal rights activists, and several animal welfare organizations called for immediate action, filing an official complaint to the security authorities to hold the perpetrator accountable for what they described as a "crime of torture and intentional killing."
In response, the Ministry of Interior acted quickly, issuing a statement revealing the details of the incident, confirming that they examined the circulated video and successfully identified and apprehended the perpetrator.
It was found that the perpetrator works as a laborer and resides in Idku city.
During the investigations, the accused confessed to committing the act, justifying his actions by claiming that the dog attacked the birds he raises in front of his house and preyed on some of them, which led him - as he alleged - to take revenge in this horrific manner.
The Ministry of Interior confirmed that all legal procedures have been taken against the accused, and investigations into the case are ongoing, while activists continue to call for stricter penalties for such acts, which are considered a flagrant violation of animal rights and contradict human and moral values.
