Turkey calls on Islamic Cooperation countries to support the reconstruction of Syria and warns of the dangers of Israeli expansion

Turkish Foreign Minister, Hakan Fidan, called on the countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to provide urgent and effective support for Syria during the reconstruction phase, warning at the same time of the dangers posed by Israeli expansionist policies to regional security.
The call came during Minister Fidan's chairing of the annual coordination meeting of the foreign ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
The Turkish minister emphasized in his speech the close link between the stability of Syria and the stability of the entire region, stating: “The stability of Syria is inseparable from the stability of the region, and stopping Israeli crimes on Syrian territory is no less important than Gaza.”
Fidan stressed the urgent need for solidarity among the organization’s countries to support the Syrian people, especially in the critical phase of reconstruction, as a key axis for achieving the desired stability.
The minister Fidan went on to warn of the serious dangers posed by Israeli policies, highlighting what he described as “the dangers of Israeli policies and the dreams of its Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of what is called 'Greater Israel' on the region,” considering that these policies threaten regional security as a whole.
He also pointed out that “the genocidal crimes committed by Israel in the Gaza Strip, and its efforts to annex the West Bank, pose serious risks within its expansionist and destabilizing strategies in the region.”
The position of Minister Fidan is consistent with previous statements by Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who recently emphasized “the necessity of respecting Syria's sovereignty and territorial integrity,” calling on the international community to take practical steps to ensure peace and stability in it.
