Tom Brack: Federalism is not a solution for Syria.. We are working to form an inclusive government before the end of the year

In press statements, U.S. envoy Tom Brack confirmed that his country's policy towards Syria does not aim to impose dictates or ready-made models, while also pointing to expectations for the formation of a comprehensive central Syrian government before the end of this year.
This came during an interview with the "Rudaw" network on Thursday, where Brack clarified that the United States "contributes with guidance and assistance, but does not impose an American or European model on the Syrians".
Regarding the form of governance in future Syria, the American diplomat emphasized that "federalism is not a suitable solution for Syria", considering that the upcoming government "will ensure the rights of all components and minorities". He confirmed that American support "includes the Kurdish Syrians and other components without imposing any dictates".
Brack described the recent events in Sweida province as "unfortunate", stressing that Washington "is working to prevent their recurrence".
In a related context, the American envoy discussed the meeting between Presidents Donald Trump and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, describing it as "better than wonderful", where multiple issues were discussed, including support for efforts to form an inclusive Syrian government. He confirmed that Turkey "showed understanding of the United States' role in supporting the peace process and forming a new Syrian government".
This comes as President Donald Trump revealed on Thursday his intention to issue a "significant announcement" regarding Syria, without providing additional details, according to what was reported by Reuters.
In response to a journalist's question at the White House related to Syria, Trump said: "I lifted the sanctions to let them (the Syrians) catch their breath, because those sanctions were very strict, but I think we need to issue a significant announcement today".
These statements are part of diplomatic moves coinciding with the participation of Syrian President Ahmad al-Shara in the activities of the United Nations General Assembly in the United States, which is the first of its kind in decades.
