A delegation from the Syrian government headed today, Monday, to the Rmeilan oil field in the northeast of the country to start the procedures for receiving the field according to the recent agreement with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
The delegation included representatives from several government bodies, including the head of internal security in Hasakah province, Major Mervan Ali, the director of airport and border security, Colonel Ahmad Ahmad, along with the assistant head of the General Civil Aviation Authority, Amjad Nakhal, and representatives from the Syrian Oil Company.

A technical tour to assess the readiness of the fields
Director of institutional communication at the Syrian Petroleum Company, Safwan Sheikh Ahmad, stated that technical and engineering teams will conduct an exploratory tour of the Rmeilan and Suwayda fields to assess the technical status of the two fields and check their operational readiness in preparation for the next phase of their operation.
Assurances for workers and expected salary improvements
The government delegation confirmed during its visit that all workers in the Rmeilan facilities will continue in their jobs, with efforts to improve their salaries and living conditions, emphasizing that oil resources represent a national wealth for all Syrians without exception.
It also pointed out that restoring the operation of the oil fields would support the state's treasury and improve economic revenues in the upcoming phase.
A comprehensive agreement to rearrange the scene in the northeast
The Syrian government announced in late January 2026 that it had reached a comprehensive agreement with the SDF, which includes an immediate ceasefire, along with a gradual integration of forces and administrative institutions, in a step aimed at unifying Syrian territories and re-establishing control over crossings and strategic resources, primarily oil and gas fields.
