The Syrian Arab Red Crescent organization has affirmed its commitment to providing humanitarian services despite the significant challenges and difficulties it faces in the southern region, especially in As-Suwayda province. The area is witnessing ongoing clashes between Bedouin tribes and local Druze factions, resulting in casualties and serious violations against civilians, leading to their forced displacement.
In an official statement, the Red Crescent expressed deep regret for the multiple violations suffered by its volunteers and facilities while carrying out their humanitarian duties. These violations include individual attacks on some volunteers, the targeting of an ambulance with gunfire, and the burning of a warehouse and organization vehicles in the area.
The organization called on all parties to neutralize civilians and volunteers and protect them, emphasizing its full commitment to the principles of neutrality and impartiality. It stressed that the safety of its staff is of utmost priority, reaffirming its continued provision of life-saving medical and relief services in As-Suwayda and Daraa despite the risks.
This comes amid escalating security tensions, with the Higher Fatwa Council in Syria issuing a fatwa regarding the events in As-Suwayda. Meanwhile, the Presidency called for restraint and pledged to send forces to resolve the conflict in the province.
