The Launch of the Hama Spring Festival in its 26th Edition
Under the patronage of the Minister of Information Hamza Al-Mustafa, the activities of the Hama Spring Festival in its 26th edition were launched on Tuesday evening, in the presence of several official and popular figures, at the vicinity of the historic Hama Citadel.
The opening ceremony, titled "A New Birth," featured various artistic segments that began with a poem recited by poet Khidr Khaleh, followed by a heritage artistic display reflecting the authenticity of the city of Hama with the participation of Syrian drama star Taysir Idris. A visual presentation about the traditional professions in the governorate and the most important archaeological and humanitarian sites was also presented, along with folkloric performances and theatrical shows, as well as national anthems expressing freedom and victory over oppression.
In his speech during the opening, Hama Governor Mr. Abdul Rahman Al-Suhayan emphasized the historical and strategic significance of the governorate, stating: "The governorate has never been ordinary in its location and history; rather, it has been a vibrant heart on the economic, cultural, and humanitarian levels. Today, after victory, its strategic role returns more firmly to be a gateway for development, a center for balance, and a starting point towards a future worthy of its ancient status."
The governor clarified that this cultural event represents a sign of the city's renaissance, pointing out that "the launch of this event represents a new birth for the city from under the rubble of suffering, and a resurgence of hope from the heart of adversity, restoring its historical brilliance and social status and its economic role."
Al-Suhayan also referred to the symbolic aspect of the festival's return in its new form, saying: "The Spring Festival that Hama has known for decades was held in a time when spirit and meanings were absent, and it returns today with a new spirit and renewed content that reflects the will of victory and the steadfastness of its people and youth, expressing this governorate's ambition to regain its status as a vibrant destination for trade, culture, tourism, and creativity."
The festival will continue until the 22nd of this month, featuring a packed program that includes artistic and theatrical performances, entertainment segments dedicated to children, cultural competitions for adults and children, in addition to heritage activities in traditional Hama clothing, a book fair, and a handicrafts market, in a cultural and social diversity aimed at enhancing the spirit of belonging and joy in the city.
