Khalaf Al-Habtoor Visits Damascus and Confirms His Readiness to Invest in Development Projects Serving the Syrian Community

During a business visit to the Syrian capital, Damascus, prominent Emirati businessman Khalaf Al-Habtoor toured the old city, where he explored the architectural landmarks and the rich cultural heritage of the city, wandering through its historical neighborhoods and the Great Umayyad Mosque.
The visit aimed to assess promising investment opportunities in the heart of the Syrian capital, where Al-Habtoor confirmed that its goal is "to collaborate with Syrians on development projects that serve the community".
In a special statement to SANA, Al-Habtoor clarified that his investment vision and that of the accompanying delegation aims not only for financial profit but also to create a tangible developmental impact, saying: “We came to explore how we can cooperate with our brothers, and our goal is not profit, but to join hands with them and see how they can live in dignity, respect, and appreciation, and this is the essence of investment for us.”
Regarding the nature of the proposed projects, Al-Habtoor revealed his initial readiness to invest in the transportation sector by providing hundreds of buses in cooperation with government entities, along with establishing car showrooms; these projects are expected to provide thousands of job opportunities for the Syrian workforce. He emphasized in this context his pursuit of project sustainability and their benefits to the community, stating: “We are not looking for temporary projects, but we want sustainability and real benefits for the Syrian community, and this is the idea we are currently working on.”
The Emirati businessman praised the capabilities of the Syrian citizen, expressing his great confidence in them, saying: “The Syrian citizen is distinguished by intelligence and the ability to succeed wherever they are,” affirming his belief “in the ability of Syrians to succeed in any project that serves their homeland.” He also expressed his sincere hope that “Syria enjoys security and economic prosperity.”
This visit reflects the increasing Arab interest in the economic opportunities that Syria offers, especially during the reconstruction phase, highlighting the depth of the fraternal ties between the Syrian and Emirati peoples, and demonstrating the eagerness of Arab businessmen to actively participate in driving development and construction in Syria.
