Despite the decline in the pace of protests in recent weeks, the youth of the "Generation Z 212" movement returned to the squares in the cities of Casablanca and Rabat on Saturday, October 18, demanding the release of detainees who were arrested during previous movements.
The movement, led by youth from the digital generation, asserts that it continues to mobilize for reforms in education and health, and to hold accountable those responsible for corruption, despite what observers describe as a waning public momentum around it.
The protesters raised slogans demanding social justice and condemned what they described as "arbitrary arrests," affirming that their demands have not changed, and that they continue to organize discussions via the "Discord" platform, which has turned into a vibrant space bringing together activists, journalists, and politicians from various backgrounds.
These movements come at a time when questions are increasing about the movement's ability to continue, amid official attempts to contain it, and fears that it could turn into a broader wave of protests if its demands are not met.
