The Departure of Artist Abdel Jawad Metwally .. Icon of Egyptian Theater and Television

The great Egyptian artist Abdel Jawad Metwally passed away yesterday, Sunday, at the age of 87, after a long struggle with chronic illnesses, including diabetes, hypertension, and some age-related diseases, which kept him away from the artistic scene for many years.
A close source from his family confirmed in exclusive statements that Metwally spent his last days with family members who took care of him, and he was transferred to the hospital multiple times before he took his last breath.
Abdel Jawad Metwally was born in 1939 and was passionate about art from a young age, but he did not start his artistic career directly; he worked in several jobs before the real opportunity to appear on screen came.
The late artist left a clear mark in television, cinema, and theater, and participated in unforgettable works such as:
• Series: "Saber Ya Am Saber" (1984), "Burj Al-Akaber" (1987), "Souq Al-Asr" (2001), and "Aunt Nour" (2003) with Nabila Obeid.
• Films: "Ashmawy" (1987), "Nisf Dasat Majaneen" (1991) where he portrayed the character of Dr. Ezzat, the hospital director, "Imra'a Ayla Lil-Suqut" (1992), and "Al-Imparatora" (1999).
He became famous for his last series "Hamda Allah Ala Al-Salama" (2007) which dealt with the story of Al-Asyouti, a train driver who reaches retirement age and heads the railway drivers' association, with events filled with professional maneuvers involving his family members, and featured a selection of stars including:
Hassan Hosny, Hala Fakher, Abdel Aziz Makhioun, Sabry Fawaz, Tarek Lotfy, and Shawky El-Shamikh, written by Mona Shabait and directed by Mohamed Abdel Aziz.
Abdel Jawad Metwally's artistic career left a rich legacy, combining comedy and drama, and contributed to shaping the features of Egyptian art over decades, ensuring that his name remains etched in the memory of his audience.
