The American Peace Council Presents a Plan to Hamas for Disarmament Amid Efforts to Rebuild Gaza

Details of the Proposal and Cairo Meetings
The sources reported that the proposal was presented to Hamas during meetings held last week in Cairo, attended by:
Nikolai Mladenov: the Peace Council's envoy to Gaza and a Trump nominee.
Reconstruction and Relief Efforts
Mladenov clarified that there are serious efforts to provide aid and reconstruction in Gaza, with a framework agreed upon by mediators to push the process forward, especially after the significant destruction caused by the war in the territory.
He wrote on the "X" platform on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr:
"The matter is now on the table and requires one clear choice: Hamas and all armed groups must completely abandon their weapons, without any exceptions. We hope that the officials will make the best choice for the Palestinian people."
Hamas's Response and Suspension of Talks
So far, Hamas has not issued any response to the submitted proposal. It is noteworthy that discussions regarding disarmament were halted with the onset of the American-Israeli attack on Iran on February 28, 2026, which temporarily suspended peace efforts.
