The spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Ismail Baqaei, confirmed that the communication channel between Tehran and Washington remains open, noting the continued exchange of messages between Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and American envoy Steve Wittekov when necessary, despite the escalating political tensions between the two countries.
Iran's Commitment to Diplomacy
In his weekly press conference, Baqaei emphasized that Iran is committed to the principle of diplomacy and equitable negotiation, asserting that the ongoing communication does not mean a retreat from its principles, but rather comes within the framework of managing differences through political channels.
Accusations Against Washington for Violating International Law
Baqaei criticized American policies, accusing Washington of violating international laws and the sovereignty of Venezuela, and considered these violations "unjustifiable in any way," referring to what he described as American double standards in dealing with international issues.
Warning Against American-Israeli Intervention
The Iranian spokesperson warned that any direct American-Israeli intervention in Iranian internal affairs constitutes incitement to violence and terrorism against the Iranian people, describing recent developments within Iran as an extension of a "terrorist war" led by Washington and Tel Aviv.
Consistent Stance on Regional Issues
In this context, Baqaei reiterated Iran's support for Lebanon's sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity, emphasizing Tehran's rejection of any infringement on the security and stability of regional countries or the imposition of new realities by force.
Araghchi: We Do Not Seek War but Are Prepared
For his part, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed that his country does not seek war and does not adopt an escalation approach, but at the same time is prepared to deal with any potential confrontation in defense of its national interests.
Negotiation on Clear Terms
Araghchi explained, during a speech delivered to foreign ambassadors in Tehran, that Iran is open to negotiation, provided it is based on equal rights and mutual respect, free from pressures or political impositions.
Dual Policy: Defense and Openness
The Iranian minister affirmed that his country will not accept unbalanced negotiation paths, considering that the combination of defensive readiness and political openness represents the essence of Iranian policy, reflecting Tehran's commitment to protecting its interests while keeping the doors for diplomatic solutions open.
