Syrian Presidency: Al-Shara Supports Efforts to Disarm Hezbollah to Avoid Escalation in the Region

The Syrian presidency announced on Tuesday that Syrian President Ahmad Al-Shara expressed his support for the efforts led by Lebanese President Joseph Aoun aimed at disarming Hezbollah, as part of the efforts to spare Lebanon and the region further escalation and security repercussions.

The Syrian presidency clarified that Damascus's position comes in light of the rapid developments in the region, especially with the widening military tensions in the Middle East. Al-Shara confirmed that his country supports all initiatives that contribute to reducing tension and enhancing regional stability.

The statement indicated that Damascus sees maintaining Lebanon's stability and preventing it from becoming a battleground for regional conflict as a priority, calling for avoiding steps that could lead to an escalation of confrontation in the region.
