The Syrian Petroleum Company announced the start of oil extraction operations from recently liberated fields and its transfer to the refineries in Homs and Baniyas, as part of a comprehensive plan to restore these fields to service and support the energy system in the country.
Steps for Rehabilitation and Gradual Production
The Director of Institutional Communication at the company, Safwan Sheikh Ahmad, told SANA today, Saturday, that technical teams have begun their work to restore the fields to their technical status before liberation in preparation for reintegration into the production process.
He added that the plan aims to gradually increase production, expecting it to reach about 100,000 barrels per day within four months, which will positively impact the energy sector and the national economy.
Military and Economic Background
This development comes after the Syrian Arab Army took control of several oil fields in the Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor governorates and handed them over to the Syrian Petroleum Company to complete rehabilitation and production work.
