The Syrian Energy Minister, Engineer Mohammed Al-Bashir, announced on Thursday the launch of a package of strategic projects to rehabilitate and upgrade water stations and distribution networks in several provinces including Damascus, its countryside, Aleppo, Idlib, and the eastern region, in cooperation with international partners and relevant organizations, as part of government efforts to enhance water security and improve the water sector infrastructure in the country.

The Ministry of Energy quoted Al-Bashir through its Telegram channel as saying: "These projects include comprehensive rehabilitation works for the Laj station and the Ain Al-Zarqa station, as two top priority projects due to their importance in securing drinking water for thousands of citizens returning to their homes. Similar projects will also be implemented in other provinces to improve the efficiency of existing networks, expand them to meet growing demand, and reduce water loss."

Minister Al-Bashir also noted that these initiatives are in response to the increasing needs of citizens, within a national plan aimed at raising the level of vital services and ensuring their sustainability. Detailed implementation schedules have been developed in coordination with local and international authorities to ensure the desired impact within the specified timeframe.

The Minister emphasized the ministry's full commitment to working according to the highest standards of quality and sustainability, expressing appreciation for the support provided by international organizations in implementing these projects, which represent an important step towards achieving comprehensive and sustainable development in various regions of the country.
