Syria and Japan Discuss Developing the Health Sector and Enhancing Medical Education

The meeting addressed the priorities of the current phase, foremost among them the rehabilitation of damaged hospitals and providing medical services in a balanced manner across different regions, which alleviates the suffering of patients and reduces the need to travel long distances to receive treatment.
The minister also reviewed the challenges facing the health sector, such as the shortage of quality medicines and biomedical equipment, pointing to the ministry's efforts in the digital transformation of health services, combating epidemics, and developing the infrastructure of medical institutions.
On another note, the minister expressed Syria's desire to benefit from the Japanese experience in medical education by organizing training programs and sending medical staff to observe advanced models in Japan, which contributes to enhancing the efficiency of workers in the sector.
For his part, Tsuji confirmed his country's continued support for the Syrian people, pointing out that Japan has provided extensive humanitarian assistance through international organizations, covering multiple sectors including health, education, and sanitation, and revealed ongoing steps to rehabilitate the large Homs hospital as part of Japanese support.
