Security Agreement Between Syria and Israel Stalls Due to Demand for Opening a 'Humanitarian Corridor' to Sweida

The two parties had come close in recent weeks to agreeing on the outlines of the agreement, after a series of talks that lasted for months in Baku, Paris, and London, mediated by the United States, and the pace accelerated before the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York this week, according to what Reuters reported.
According to the sources, the agreement aimed to establish a demilitarized zone that includes Sweida province, which witnessed sectarian violence last July that claimed the lives of hundreds of people from the Druze community, prompting the international community to pressure for a de-escalation of the situation in the region.
