New Presidential Decree Defines Official Holidays in Syria for 2025

President Ahmad al-Shara issued today Decree No. (188) for the year 2025, which stipulates the official holidays in the Syrian Arab Republic, and the days during which workers subject to the provisions of the Basic Law for Workers in the State No. (50) for the year 2004 benefit from fully paid leave.
The text of the decree states that the approved holidays and official vacations are as follows:
Eid al-Fitr: Three days
Eid al-Adha: Four days
Eid al-Hijra: One day
Eid al-Mawlid al-Nabawi: One day
New Year's Day (January 1): One day
Christmas for all Christian denominations (December 25): One day
Mother's Day (March 21): One day
Evacuation Day (April 17): One day
Easter for Eastern Christian denominations: One day
Easter for Western Christian denominations: One day
Labor Day (May 1): One day
Liberation Day (December 8): One day
Syrian Revolution Day (March 18): One day
The decree also stipulates consideration of the nature of the work of entities that require continuous work during the holidays, according to the provisions of Article (43) of the Basic Law for Workers in the State, with a subsequent announcement to specify the dates of the holidays that have not been defined in the text.
The new decree also cancels the implementation of Decree No. 474 for the year 2004 and its amendments, and any provisions that contradict its provisions, confirming that the decree will be published and communicated to those required for its implementation.
