The Dutch police arrested a number of demonstrators today, Saturday, during protests that took place in The Hague against the government's immigration policy.
The demonstrations began in Malieveld square in the city center before escalating into confrontations after the protesters left the square and headed towards the A12 highway, prompting security forces to intervene to disperse the gatherings.
A circulated video showed the moment police intervened and forcibly arrested several protesters, while additional units of riot police were deployed around The Hague Central Station in anticipation of renewed unrest.
Security sources confirmed that the police are still pursuing scattered groups of demonstrators near the main train station, while armed officers continue to monitor the situation and arrest violators individually.
