Netanyahu Ends Prisoners Consultations Ahead of Reoccupation of Gaza Amid Mass Displacement and Humanitarian Warnings

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu concluded today, Sunday, a three-hour consultation regarding the file of prisoners held in the Gaza Strip, just before the start of a large-scale military operation to reoccupy the city of Gaza, according to Israeli media reports.

The consultations included discussions about potential scenarios, including the risk of the detainees being killed in the event of military escalation.

Field Escalation and Mass Displacement

In the field, the movement of displacement from the city of Gaza continues via Al-Rasheed Street, amid warnings from the Israeli army to residents of the "Unknown Soldier" tower near the Gaza port in preparation for bombing.

Weekend footage shows lines of displaced individuals on the coastal road near Al-Nuseirat, being transported by crowded trucks and buses, while others walk on foot amid severe exhaustion, including the injured, children, and those with special needs.

Escalating Humanitarian Crisis

International relief agencies have warned that Israeli control over the city of Gaza could lead to a humanitarian disaster, especially amid the spread of malnutrition.

The Ministry of Health in the sector announced the death of at least 422 people due to hunger, including 145 children, in recent weeks.

Despite Israel allowing aid to enter since late July, the United Nations confirms that supplies remain insufficient to meet the increasing needs.

Military Operations and Airstrikes

Israeli forces continue their operations in at least four eastern neighborhoods, three of which have been leveled, while tightening the noose around the central sector and western areas, where most of the displaced are sheltering.

Israel announced the execution of five waves of airstrikes over the past week, targeting more than 500 sites, including tunnels, weapon storage facilities, and sniper positions.

Hamas's Position and Residents' Hesitation

Amid Israeli calls for civilians to leave the city, Hamas continues to urge residents to stay, while many hesitate to leave due to the lack of safe shelter in the south, which Israel describes as the "humanitarian area."

Some hope that the meeting of Arab leaders in Qatar tomorrow, Monday, will result in international pressure leading to a halt of the anticipated attack.

Heavy Toll

According to local authorities, the ongoing Israeli military campaign for nearly two years has resulted in the deaths of more than 64,000 people in the Gaza Strip, reflecting the scale of the humanitarian and political disaster affecting the region.
