The Collapse of the 'Abraham Accords' Looms Ahead.. The Former Israeli Ambassador to the UAE Issues a Warning

The former Israeli ambassador to the UAE, Amir Hayek, warned of what he called an imminent danger threatening the future of the 'Abraham Accords' due to recent developments in the region, including the Israeli escalation in Qatar and other areas of the Middle East.
In an interview with 103FM radio, Hayek said: "There is a real danger to the Abraham Accords. I lived in the UAE for three years and understand their position well. Tomorrow we commemorate the fifth anniversary of those accords, which is a significant achievement, but the Emiratis are raising the red flag and saying: Enough."
He emphasized that the talk of annexing parts of the West Bank poses a direct threat to those accords, noting that the Emirati stance is characterized by firmness, especially with the growing regional pressures on them. He added: "If the Israeli government continues in this direction, the accords are at risk of collapse."
Hayek stressed that the regional alliances provided by the 'Abraham Accords' for Israel are no less important than weapons and technology, stating: "These accords have given Israel a security, political, and economic umbrella; it must be maintained and trust with the Emiratis must be strengthened."
He also addressed the Emirati stance towards Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, clarifying that they are not prepared to welcome him currently due to a lack of trust and the pressure of current conditions, although other Israeli leaders have visited Abu Dhabi in the past years.
Regarding the recent events in Qatar, Hayek pointed out that the attack there sparked widespread Gulf solidarity, reflecting the sensitivity of the situation for the countries in the region. He said: "We cannot expect the Emiratis to stand idly by without informing them of our plans."
He concluded his warning by saying: "Annexation will not serve Israel's security as the Abraham Accords do. We must listen to what our partners in the region are saying. I never imagined that the fifth anniversary of these accords would come in such an atmosphere."
