In a surprising and shocking development in the case of the death of Ahmed El-Degwy, grandson of the famous Egyptian businesswoman Nawal El-Degwy, his brother Amr El-Degwy broke his silence to reveal that the death was not a suicide as the authorities previously announced, but rather a "well-planned and executed murder".
Nearly 4 months after the incident, Amr El-Degwy published a statement this Wednesday morning via his Facebook account, announcing the results of private investigations in which he consulted a group of forensic experts and criminal evidence specialists, both from inside and outside Egypt, whom he described as "a neutral scientific elite with no vested interest in the case".
Amr stated in his post:
"The experts concluded, after examining the crime scene several times and referring to accredited scientific references, that my brother did not commit suicide, but rather was subjected to a professional murder, which was carried out by first drugging him and then controlling him".
* Shocking Evidence .. Unraveling the Threads of the Crime
The report that Amr relied on pointed to several suspicious indicators, most notably:
_ The presence of blind spots in the surveillance cameras inside the villa.
_ Signs of climbing on the house wall.
_ Clear bruises and stiffness in the victim's right hand.
_ The disappearance of Ahmed's laptop, along with important documents.
Regarding the official narrative that stated Ahmed El-Degwy was suffering from psychological disorders that led to his suicide using a licensed firearm, Amr said:
"This is not true, as all the experts in forensic evidence and psychiatry we consulted confirmed that my brother was not suffering from any mental illness, but was at the peak of optimism before his death, especially after making progress in some cases he was following".
* Official Request to Reopen the Investigation
At the end of his post, Amr El-Degwy attached a copy of the complete report prepared by the experts and called on the public prosecutor and the relevant authorities to reopen the investigations into the case to uncover the identity of the killer and achieve justice, affirming that "what happened to Ahmed was betrayal and treachery by close individuals".
* The Story Began with a Major Theft from Nawal El-Degwy's Home
The roots of the case date back to last May, when a massive theft was revealed from Dr. Nawal El-Degwy, one of the leading figures in education and investment in Egypt.
The stolen items were estimated at:
_ 50 million Egyptian pounds in cash
_ 3 million US dollars
_ 350 thousand British pounds
_ 15 kilograms of gold jewelry
Subsequently, an official report was filed against Nawal's grandsons, Ahmed and Amr El-Degwy, on charges of stealing the contents of the safes in the villa located in one of the luxury residential compounds in 6th of October City.
* Mysterious Death Days After the Accusation
Just 4 days after these developments, the body of Ahmed El-Degwy was found in his apartment, hours after he returned from abroad.
The security authorities announced at the time that the death was due to gunfire from a licensed weapon, and the incident was recorded as a "suicide".
However, the family, especially his brother Amr, insisted that the incident was planned.
Amr's tweet following the incident sparked further controversy, as he wrote:
"My brother did not commit suicide, and we do not accept condolences until the truth is revealed".
This reopened the questions:
Is there a third party involved in Ahmed's murder?
Was the theft charge fabricated against him and his brother Amr to tarnish their reputation?
* The Family Lawyer Clarifies .. Previous Disputes Surface
On the other hand, Ahmed and Amr's lawyer, Mr. Yasser Saleh, stated that there have been legal disputes extending over 3 years between his client and their grandmother Nawal El-Degwy, and that these disputes were known to the prosecutors, noting that Nawal El-Degwy was not aware of the details of the accusation directed at her grandson, and that if she had known, "she would not have accepted the matter".
He promised to reveal "new surprises in the coming hours".
* The Egyptian Street Reacts .. Eyes on the Investigations
These developments have sparked a debate on social media in Egypt, where thousands of users have called for reopening the investigations and holding accountable anyone connected to Ahmed El-Degwy's death, especially in light of the lack of clear answers to many questions.
While the Egyptian public awaits swift action from the relevant authorities, the full truth remains pending until officially proven .. Was Ahmed a victim of a family conspiracy? Or is the truth entirely elsewhere?
