The European Union Confirms Its Continued Support for the Syrian People

In statements to the Jordanian "Al-Mamlaka" channel today, Wednesday, Horvath explained that the European Union has provided over 2.38 billion euros in support for Syrian refugees and host communities in Jordan and neighboring countries through the regional "Maddad" credit fund, with contributions from 21 EU member states, in addition to Turkey and the United Kingdom.
She added that the total European support for the Syrian crisis has reached 35 billion euros, of which 15.61 billion euros are from the European Commission, emphasizing that the funding has included vital sectors such as education, health, social services, and protection programs, as part of enhancing humanitarian and economic stability in the region.
In a notable step, the European Union announced on May 27 that it would increase its humanitarian aid to Syrians to over 202 million euros for the year 2025, and on the 20th of the same month, it issued a decision to lift all economic sanctions imposed on Syria, indicating a clear shift in European policy towards Damascus and supporting recovery and reconstruction efforts.
