Microsoft Tests AI Feature for Automatically Organizing Photos in 'Windows 11'

Microsoft has revealed that it is testing a new feature within the Photos app on the Windows 11 operating system, aimed at eliminating the clutter of digital libraries by intelligently and directly categorizing photos using artificial intelligence technologies.
The new feature allows the app to automatically recognize specific types of photos, such as payment receipts, screenshots, identification documents like passports and ID cards, as well as handwritten notes. Once recognized, the app creates special folders within the 'Categories' section of the sidebar, making it easier for users to access their files quickly without having to search through thousands of personal photos.
Notably, the classification mechanism relies not only on written texts but also on analyzing the visual content itself, allowing for accurate sorting of images even if they are written in different languages, including Arabic.
Currently, the classification is limited to four main categories, but Microsoft has indicated that the experiment is still in its early stages, with expectations of adding broader options later, such as allowing users to create custom categories like pet photos or landscapes.
The feature is currently available to users of the Windows 11 Insiders preview version, and it will be rolled out later to all users, as part of Microsoft's effort to enhance reliance on artificial intelligence to improve everyday tools and make them more efficient.
