Algeria and France agreed to reactivate high-level security cooperation between them, in a step that may pave the way for the return of diplomatic relations to their normal course after more than a year of tension.
The agreement came during the visit of French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez to Algeria, where they agreed to enhance judicial cooperation, intensify police coordination, and exchange intelligence information between the two countries.
Relations had escalated following statements by French President Emmanuel Macron regarding Western Sahara, along with renewed disputes related to colonialism and immigration issues.
