Libya.. The House of Representatives and the State Council Complete the First Steps of the UN Roadmap

The Committee for Sovereign Positions and the Commission of the House of Representatives held a meeting with the State Council Committee on Saturday at the headquarters of the House of Representatives in Benghazi, as part of efforts to implement the roadmap proposed by the United Nations Mission in Libya.
The official spokesperson for the House of Representatives, Abdullah Bliheq, stated that the meeting resulted in an agreement to restructure the Board of Directors of the High National Elections Commission within ten days from the date of the meeting, with the remaining sovereign positions to be discussed in the second meeting of the two committees.
This consensus is the first step of the UN roadmap, as the first phase was completed quickly, two months ahead of the scheduled date. The next phase includes discussing contentious issues in the electoral laws, such as the candidacy of dual nationals, foreign spouses and their children, in addition to military personnel.
This phase is expected to conclude with an agreement on forming a unified government to oversee the electoral process to ensure the implementation of the upcoming entitlements in Libya.
