The Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam emphasized during his reception of visitors and delegations from associations and journalists that "preventing strife cannot happen at the expense of applying the law, but rather the opposite is true," stressing that protecting the state and its stability requires all citizens to feel that they are equal before the law, and that the state protects their rights.
Salam added: "Our project has been and still is the rebuilding of the state, and just as there is no one state without one army, there is also no one state without one law applied equally to all, and no one should be above it or outside of accountability and responsibility."
In response to the campaigns targeting him personally, Nawaf Salam said: "My conscience is clear, and these malicious campaigns cannot change anything in my path. No one can doubt my Arab identity and my steadfast positions regarding the Palestinian cause, which I have defended from the highest international forums, without imposing any cost on Lebanon in that regard."
This statement comes at a time when the region is witnessing increasing tensions, as UNIFIL reported that the Israeli army dropped bombs near its soldiers in southern Lebanon, indicating a rise in security tensions in the area.
The Lebanese Prime Minister reaffirms that the law is the true guarantee for Lebanon's stability and the safety of its citizens, calling for the unity of the state and the enforcement of the law on everyone without exception, in an effort to rebuild Lebanon and its institutions.
