The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed today, Saturday, Hamas' positive response to U.S. President Donald Trump's proposal regarding the end of the war in the Gaza Strip, considering it an important step towards a ceasefire and the initiation of a political path leading to lasting peace.

The ministry's spokesperson, Fouad Majali, expressed Jordan's appreciation for the efforts made by Egypt and Qatar to reach a permanent ceasefire agreement, while also praising Trump's statements calling for an immediate halt to military operations, paving the way for a prisoner exchange deal according to the American proposal that Hamas agreed to.

Majali confirmed that Jordan values the U.S. president's proposal aimed at stopping the war, rebuilding Gaza, and preventing the displacement of the Palestinian people, in addition to his rejection of the annexation of the West Bank, emphasizing that the partnership with the United States represents a fundamental pillar in the efforts to end the conflict and achieve just peace.

Majali called for an immediate halt to the Israeli aggression and the opening of crossings to allow humanitarian aid to enter safely and sustainably into various areas of the Gaza Strip, noting Jordan's readiness to resume sending aid as soon as the Israeli restrictions are lifted.

In turn, Hamas announced that it had delivered its response to the mediators regarding Trump's initiative, confirming its agreement to release all occupation prisoners according to the exchange format mentioned in the proposal, and its readiness to begin immediate negotiations through the mediators to discuss the details. The movement also renewed its agreement to hand over the administration of the Gaza Strip to a Palestinian body of independents (technocrats) with Arab and Islamic support.

For his part, U.S. President Donald Trump welcomed Hamas' response, considering it an indication of the movement's readiness for lasting peace, calling on Israel to cease bombing immediately.
