A Strong State is the Only Guarantee for the Security of the South

In his vision for the future of the borders, President Aoun clarified today, Wednesday, that the real and only guarantee for protecting Lebanese sovereignty is the presence of the state with all its institutions and military forces in "the entire south." He sent a firm message to the Israeli side that the continuation of violations and the destruction of border villages will not bring security to Tel Aviv, but will complicate the situation further, asserting that stability stems from respecting sovereignty, not from a "scorched earth" policy.

Waiting for the American "Zero Hour" to Start Negotiation

Regarding the behind-the-scenes of international movement, Aoun announced that Lebanon has completed its readiness to enter the negotiation process, indicating that Beirut is now "waiting for an official date to be set by the United States" to start direct or indirect rounds of negotiation. He stressed the need for Israel to commit to an immediate ceasefire as a basic condition to move to the stage of discussing details, considering that negotiating under fire does not serve the chances of success.

National Consensus and International Support for the Negotiation Option

The President pointed out in his speech today, Wednesday, that there is a wide "popular consensus" supporting the diplomatic solution option, noting that this direction enjoys solid support from European Union countries and Arab states that have expressed their full support for the path taken by Lebanon. This regional and international support places Lebanon in a position of negotiating strength, at a time when the international community is seeking to defuse a major confrontation that could destabilize the entire Middle East region in 2026.
