Reuters reported on Tuesday that Israel informed the United Nations that it will allow only 300 aid trucks to enter the Gaza Strip tomorrow, Wednesday, which is half the number that was previously agreed upon.
The decision comes at a time when international warnings about the worsening humanitarian crisis in the region are increasing, as residents suffer from severe shortages of food, medicine, and fuel.
The United Nations had previously emphasized that allowing sufficient quantities of aid is a prerequisite for alleviating the humanitarian disaster, warning that any further reduction would lead to a serious deterioration in living conditions.
The Israeli move coincided with ongoing disputes over the implementation of ceasefire agreement provisions, particularly regarding the issue of prisoners and humanitarian commitments, which poses new challenges for mediators to maintain the path to calm.
