Israel Expands Its Operations in Quneitra: Rare Field Escalation in Southern Syria

In a new field development, sources reported that the Israeli army advanced yesterday, Friday, October 24, 2025, with five military vehicles into the village of Eastern Samdaniya in Quneitra Governorate, located in southern Syria.
This move by the Israeli forces is an unusual step in the border area between Syria and Israel, as these movements come after similar operations earlier this month.
* Details of the Incursion and Military Maneuvers
Sources clarified that the Israeli forces set up a checkpoint on the Peace Highway in Quneitra Governorate, which is about 40 kilometers from the capital, Damascus.
So far, the precise details regarding the nature of the mission or the duration of the Israeli military presence in that area have not been disclosed.
It is noteworthy that this incursion is not the first of its kind this month, as Israeli forces had entered the village of Eastern Samdaniya and the village of Ofania on October 15, 2025. According to the Syrian news agency "SANA", the Israeli military force included 8 military vehicles, a heavy vehicle of the "Turkis" type, and two tanks, and moved from the vicinity of Tal Kroum Jabba towards the village of Eastern Samdaniya.
Hours after the incursion, the Israeli forces withdrew towards the destroyed city of Quneitra.
Another force also carried out raids and searches in the village of Ofania before leaving the town.
* Military Violations and Security Threats
Since the fall of the previous regime in December 2024, Israel has taken increasing steps to bypass the 1974 ceasefire agreement, allowing its forces to penetrate the demilitarized zone that was imposed between the two countries.
These operations have been repeated continuously, as Israeli forces have bombed Syrian military targets in the south and around Damascus.
Alongside the military incursion, political efforts continue between the Israeli and Syrian sides to reach a security agreement, but recent negotiations have not yielded tangible results so far.
At the same time, international concern is rising over the increasing pace of violations in this sensitive area.
Israel continues to carry out its military movements within Syrian territory at an accelerated pace, while the situation on the border remains in a state of severe tension.
Questions are rising about the impact of these operations on regional security and the ability of the international community to intervene to stop the escalation occurring in the region.
