In response to the famine.. the United Nations confirms: "We will remain in Gaza for as long as possible"

The United Nations pledged on Wednesday, September 10, to remain in the Gaza Strip "for as long as possible", affirming its determination to make every effort "to provide life-saving assistance and services" throughout the entire region.
This was stated in a statement issued by the United Nations humanitarian team in the Palestinian territories, which includes UN agencies and more than 200 local and international non-governmental organizations. The statement noted that this escalation comes after two weeks of confirming the occurrence of famine in the city of Gaza and the surrounding areas.
According to the press release: "While the Israeli authorities unilaterally declared an area in the south as 'humanitarian', they have not taken effective steps to ensure the safety of those forced to move to the area, and the scale and scope of services are not adequate to support those present there, as well as the newcomers".
The team emphasized, amid ongoing Israeli restrictions, the "necessity to expand humanitarian access to include direct routes to the north and south, and to open fuel and water supplies".
The team also sent a message of reassurance to families in Gaza, confirming that "the humanitarian community will remain in the city of Gaza for as long as possible, and will continue its work throughout the region and do everything it can to provide relief and life-saving services".
The statement called on the international community to "act and advocate for an immediate ceasefire and respect for international humanitarian law, including the release of hostages and those arbitrarily detained".
The humanitarian team concluded its statement by saying that the disaster in Gaza is a "man-made disaster", expressing that "the responsibility lies with all of us".
