The South Korean mission to the United Nations, which is presiding over the Security Council for the month of September, reported that Poland requested an emergency meeting of the council in light of the drone incident that its forces shot down over its territory.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk had previously announced that his forces shot down drones he described as "dangerous" and claimed they were Russian, without providing any evidence.
For its part, the Russian Ministry of Defense denied launching strikes towards Polish territory using drones, while the acting Russian ambassador to Poland, Andrei Ordash, stated that Poland had not provided any evidence that the downed drones were Russian.
The official spokesperson for the Russian presidency, Dmitry Peskov, also confirmed that the Kremlin had not received any request for contact from the Polish leadership, noting that the European Union and NATO's accusations against Russia of daily provocations come without providing concrete evidence.
