High-Level Military Meeting Between Syria and Russia to Enhance Defense Cooperation in Damascus

The Chief of General Staff of the Syrian Arab Army, Major General Ali Al-Nasaan, received today, Tuesday, a delegation from the Russian Ministry of Defense headed by Deputy Minister of Defense Mr. Yunus Bekievkorov, during an official meeting held in the capital, Damascus, in the presence of several Syrian commanding officers.

During the meeting, a number of joint military and strategic files were discussed, within the framework of enhancing defense cooperation between the two countries, and developing mechanisms for field and technical coordination, in a way that serves common security interests and keeps pace with current regional challenges.

Both sides emphasized the importance of continuing military coordination in various fields, especially regarding counter-terrorism, exchanging experiences, and developing defensive capabilities, in addition to supporting stability efforts in the liberated areas.

This meeting comes amid increasing Russian activity in the region, as Moscow seeks to solidify its military partnerships with allies, while Damascus emphasizes the importance of Russian support in enhancing the capabilities of the Syrian army in the upcoming phase.
