The Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, confirmed today, Sunday, its full commitment to all agreements related to the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, and denied any connection to the recent events in the Rafah area.
Red areas under Israeli control
The Al-Qassam Brigades stated in an official statement: "We have no knowledge of any events or clashes taking place in the Rafah area," clarifying that these areas are considered red and are under complete Israeli control, and that communication has been cut off with any groups affiliated with them there since the beginning of the war in March.
Israeli army response
For its part, the Israeli army announced airstrikes on the city of Rafah in southern Gaza after its forces were fired upon by Palestinian fighters.
The army explained that the terrorists launched anti-tank missiles and opened fire on Israeli forces during operations to destroy military infrastructure in Rafah, confirming that the response came using fighter jets and artillery to target military objectives and eliminate the threat, including several tunnels and facilities where terrorist activity was monitored.
Ongoing tension in the sector
These developments come amid the continued state of tension in the Gaza Strip, despite previous agreements on the ceasefire, raising fears of a potential military escalation in the region.
